A fibre laser does something no CO₂ machine can: it marks metal quickly & permanently. Your logo etched onto merchandise, wear-resistant serial numbers, even precise cuts on thin metal stock, all from a blistering fast galvo laser.
Learn real skills from instructors who handle lasers daily. Two hours with an industrial-class dual galvo laser, with MOPA fibre and diode laser technology. While this course will primarily focus on operating and handling a MOPA fibre machine, we'll also cover hardware with dual-laser functionality to expand your material options to include wood, stone, leather and more.
This experience is tailored for professionals interested in part identification and order personalisation, even artists looking to sell their designs in an indelible format. Anyone interested in deploying a fibre machine and wanting to know what it can genuinely do before committing. You don't need laser experience — you just need a reason to mark metal.
This workshop is designed for adults. People under 18 are welcome to attend when accompanied by a responsible adult who is also participating.
This workshop is free for a limited time during the Makerverse launch.
What you'll learn
- >> Anneal, etch or ablate: our instructors will show you the right levers to pull and how your settings affect the material you're marking.
- >> How metals behave: stainless, aluminium, brass, titanium and anodised finishes all react differently to the same settings; we'll show you how to dial into the sweet spot no matter what you're working with.
- >> Dual-laser implementation: a MOPA fibre system paired with a diode laser opens a huge range of materials; you'll walk away knowing when to use each one and why.
- >> Marking as production: jigging for repeatable placement, batch runs, and curved surfaces.
- >> Running it safely: fume extraction, eye protection, and WHS for marking operations
